Jesse Goodrich 4/27/97 Mrs.Clements Essay Julius Caesar William Shakespeare had a great understanding of human experiences. In the tragedy Julius Caesar, written by Shakespeare, the characters face problems still present today. Some examples of these problems are; manipulation, friends turning on friends, and not listening to others' warnings. In the play most of the problems were connected with Marcus Brutus, a close friend of Caesar's. First, is manipulation. Brutus manipulates Antony and all of Rome that Caesar's death was rightful and justified, by saying that he was becoming too powerful. Next is having a friend turn on you. Caesar had his best friend turn on him, when Brutus lead a conspiracy that successfully murdered Caesar. Last is not listening to the warnings of others. When the soothsayer told Caesar to "Beware the Ides of March", he didn't listen. Later, when it was the Ides of March, Caesar boasted to the soothsayer that "The Ides of March have come", and he was fine. The soothsayer then said "They have come, but not gone". Caesar also ignored this warning, and shortly after, he was killed. These Problems can be associated with my life too. I have dealt with manipulation in the form of a job I used to have. At this job I would have to do my work, and someone else's work at the same time, so he could goof off. I dealt with this, by one day when I was supposed to work, I never showed up, and gave no warning. That day happened to be very busy. This may not have been the right thing to do, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. One time a friend who I practically grew up with turned on me. A group of us were outside fooling around, when he took something ridiculous too personal so he jumped on me and started a fight he knew he had no chance of winning, so I fought back and easily won. We never talked to each other again. Lastly, is a time I ignored the warnings of others. I was two years old and starting to play on playgrounds, so my mother told me to be careful and not fool around. Of course I ignored this and Climbed up the last steps of a slide with my feet crossed. I fell and broke my leg. In conclusion we can see that William was a little ahead of his time. He wrote about problems people had 500 years ago, in a play that took place about 1500 years ago. This should also teach that even the most trusted friends can deceive you in many ways. Some other problems like these are, guilt, revenge, desire for power, indecision, and misjudging people.

Observation Of Professional Social Work Practice Multidisciplinary working is work undertaken jointly by workers and professionals from different disciplines or occupations Pearson Thomas 2010:342 and it has evolved at varying speeds over the past 30 years or so in response to imperatives of central government. Mental health was among the first professions to adopt teams of workers from different professions. The community mental health team is widely regarded as the model for multi-disciplinary working. (Community Care, 2010). Relating this to social work the distinctive quality is demonstrating a holistic approach, by working with a range of situations, people and having an attribute for developing multi-disciplinary and partnerships,(Higham,2006:) c The crisis centre is run by a Local Council and NHS Trust based in a local community. Which corresponds with the 1975 White Paper Better Services for Mentally Ill, professions working together to provide a community based service. (Scie, 2010) The crisis centre provides beds for four adults suffering a mental health, social crisis, who have been referred to them by the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team, the service users for instance can be referred from in their home or accident and emergency. Next they complete an assessment inline with local authority guidelines and procedures, then produce a care plan and risk assessment. If they decide the service user is in crisis and cant return home, then they contact the crisis centre for a place with the goal of leaving the centre after the crisis, normally within two weeks. Once the service user is placed, there are numerous methods of contacts from the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team and social workers through emails, phone call s and visits. During this observation multidisciplinary working was witnessed between the crisis centre staff and the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team about a service user already in the centre through a phone call. The crisis resolution home treatment team seemed to be following the National Occupational Standards key roles section three, by supporting the individual, representing their needs, views and circumstances by acting as an advocate (Higham 2006: 98) as they were informing the crisis centre of what was happening. The crisis centre staff were asking questions in a way that was treating the service user as an individual by listening to their individual case, respecting and maintaining dignity by only asking questions relevant to the crisis centres needs and criteria. They also spoke clearly and discussed the dynamics of other service users (respecting confidentiality) already in the centre declaring any conflict or positive interactions that had arisen since their last visit (GSCC,201 0).These skills are fundamental to social work practice as they are valuing the individual and having a holistic approach. Furthermore, in the 1990s new labour recognised that problems cannot be addresses by people and organisations working in isolation. So the Department of Health 1998 introduced the white paper Modernising Social Services, which had multi-disciplinary working as a key objective. (Wilson, et, al, 2008:388). In 2000 No secrets actively promoted that multidisciplinary teams, empower and promote well-being of vulnerable adults, through the services they provide and the need to act in a way, which supports the rights of the individual to lead to independence. (Department of Health 2000) This was observed, by the service user, crisis centre and Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team via staff communicating frequently throughout the day and providing an environment where service users can come and go freely, yet still have support, during their crisis, they were also encouraged to cook and clean for themselves .This was seen during the observation also in Tony Ryans (2010) evaluation of crisis centre and Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team, asked service users what they valued best about their stay, their responses I was on the lowest rung of the ladder in terms of depression and self esteem. Now I can cook and iron. It has restored my get up and go. and It is given me a sense of life back and helped me to find myself. I couldnt have gone on any longer. Staff have taught me to cope better and manage my panic attacks. This demonstrates partnership working with the service user and multidisciplinary working. The White Paper Our health, our care, our say also emphasises the importance of people having more control over their lives and access to responsive, preventative services by working together in multidisciplinary teams. (Department of Health 2006). The crisis centre fulfils this. Throughout the day through discussions and observation it appeared that the crisis centre staff and Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team encouraged emancipatory practice by involving the service user in their support which shows good practice also staff were not routinized as each day was different, they discussed how each individual was unique with a unique situation. If social workers become oppressed by working in routines this does not always benefit the service user, it is not good practice and is not fundamental to social work values. An example of this was observed when a member of the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team came to the crisis centre and completed a visit with a service user. During her visit to the crisis centre she was constantly contacted from her office through phone calls, one of which was a new service user needing to be assessed urgently, she had already one visit booked in after the crisis centre, but had to re -evaluate her cases as the new referral wa s seen to be more of a priority. She did this by speaking to her manager on the phone and re -arranging for another colleague to see her service user and then asked the office to let the service user know about this change. The above paragraph demonstrates multidisciplinary working and partnership working with the service users are fundamental and collaboration is needed for social work and the interpretation from the staff involved demonstrates good practice. To show the importance of partnership working with service users in the crisis centre Tony Ryan (2010) completed a service evaluation of the crisis centre and Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team, they asked service users how they felt about staff. Service users responses Any questions or anything you are upset over, you can go and ask the staff and Staff are very supportive and help sort problems out. As social work is about working with people to help them to sort their problems out. Also each individual brings unique skills and experience into the working professional relationship. (Thompson. N. Thompson, S. 2008:24) So far this essay has demonstrated positive multidisciplinary working through observation at the crisis centre. However, in reality multidisciplinary working can be negative and can be totally dysfunctional. As when a group of diverse people with varied skills come together into a team, things dont always go smoothly. (Community Care, 2010) Cree, 2003:163 believes that multidisciplinary working can be positive but also frustrating, isolating and difficult. (Dalrymple Burke 2006:139) Wilson et al (2008) also agrees multi disciplinary working does not always work effectively and such failures have been documented in such finding of Victoria Climbie enquiry and baby Peter, lastly Thompson (2005) believes that multidisciplinary can do more harm than good and can make situations worse. During the course of the day it was bought to attention through a staff handover that one of the service users in the crisis centre had at first experienced a positive interaction of multidisciplinary practice, but sadly it turned into a negative experience. Conquesenlty, this seemed due to the breakdown of communication between multidisciplinary teams such as his social worker, Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team, crisis centre staff and medical staff. According to Thompson (2009) without effective communication the notion of multidisciplinary becomes unobtainable. Staff at the crisis centre believed it was due to lack of budgets and lack of communication. During this handover reflective practice was witnessed, as, as a team they spoke about what, why and how things had gone wrong for the service user and how they could approach the situation to get the best outcome for the service user. The staff at the crisis centre spoke about how they valued supervision meetings as it gave them the chance to voice any concerns they had and also gave the manger chance to deal with any systematic practice that was leading the staff to become unfocused. (Thompson. N. Thompson, S. 2008). As supervision meetings demonstrate good practice and in social work codes of practice, developing ones self through development opportunities to strengthen skills and knowledge. holiday :: essays research papers

D rough week is finali done and over with! to rush of adrenalin to meet deadlines and homeworks and test and many other things................finali, this has got to stop! i declared my own holiday for this thursday coz im goin home tomolo...i decided to turn my back onto 1 more day of torture...mmm, im luvin it. I can feel myself breathing more easily like wonderbra, i can feel my head became light like KAKA, i can feel my spirit soar as high as roti tisu... my fren invited me and my housemate to go to a pasar malam tonight tat starts around 12am and according to my fren, every1 wears like-they-are-going-clubbing attires to this pasar malam....while my housemate stands beside me n nodded his head til d screw on his neck came loose...im rather interested to go n take a look but skeptical with my fren's description. I dun really trust someone who check on any girls....i mean really juz ANY gals....!!! Juz finished my test, so i guess i sud hit back to main road and indulge in lots and lots of tv!! to tell u guys out there the truth, since the beginning of this semester, i've hardly watched any tv. i let go of 'jewel in the palace', 'desperate housewives' and many more..i've only managed to watch a handful of 'full house', (thanks to my all sole-and-crown crazy over the lead actress) enough to guess the missing episodes.C? So poor thing...its a sad life to life without tv...so i guess im living a sad life too. Watched red-eye with free ticket.....ahh...1st time ler...feel so privileged and so i dressed for the occasion. Drove my kancil together with my housemate, passed the role of 'watchin out d cars' to him as i bravely drive down federal highway to midvaley megamall for d first time.

American intervention in and post WWII Essay

Every society, religion and ethnicity always has within it capability for extreme violence. This is often manifested in the culture to consider other fractions of the society as inferior and go ahead with acts to exterminate or kill them.   This scenario is accelerated to greater heights when the faction considered remain silent even when their rights are violated. Benito Mussolini, the II Duce, was an avid writer and later became a journalist with the Milan socialist paper ‘Avanti’ He was famous amongst the supporters of a socialist idea and then began promoting his views on the support of war against Germany in World War I. After joining politics for sometime,  Ã‚   Mussolini went back to journalism as a career on which he spearheaded and promoted his ideas against Germany. This led to the birth of fascist party on March 23rd 1919 immediately after the end of World War I. The destruction and loss of lives led to the popularity of the National Fascist Party since many were disenchanted the leadership following the after effects of the war. Mussolini stood on time and seemed to offer solutions to the Italy’s ailing economy and bring back the lost glory after the World War I. The Roman Salute and the Black Shirt Militia which were later copied by Hitler were his creation. He was elected to the Italian Chamber of Deputies on March 15th, 1921. This provided more confidence and boost to his political ambitions. Several factors worked on Mussolini‘s favor in his rise to power. In August 1922, the ruling Leftist Party called for a nationwide strike. Mussolini saw this as an act that would destabilize the state and ordered the leftists to call off the strike or his Fascist Party would. King Vittorio Emmanuelle III saw the capability of Mussolini in handling the affairs of the nation and invited him to travel to Rome and form the government. Mussolini did not accept the invitation and instead insisted on a telegraph and soon it was wired. The desire by France to take control of mineral rich Ruhr Valley saw it take sides with Italy on the Conference of Ambassadors and this bolstered Italy’s position since most of its endorsements were accepted.   The government of Greek had nothing else to do and sensing defeat gave in to Italy’s demands thereby adding more confidence to Mussolini. The thirst for more power and expansionist ideas led Mussolini to annex the city of Fiume from Yugoslavia, a successful operation that earned him a British Knight of the Bath. He was unsatisfied with the treatment Italy was accorded for giving the necessary assistance in defeating the Germans in the World War I. His thirst for power never ended and he dreamt of the day the Mediterranean Sea would be under his control. Italy then invaded Ethiopia under Mussolini‘s commands as a revenge against their shameful defeat at the battle of Adwa in 1896. Such expansionist ideas led to Italy’s blacklisting by the League of Nations and as such forged a new close relationship with the Nazi Germany that harbored the same ideas. The League of Nations lacked the political mandate to reign on rogue nations such as Italy and Germany and Mussolini realizing this, continued with his expansionist ideas .Mussolini invaded Albania in 1939 and fully strengthened its alliance with Germany by forming the Pact of Steel.   His exploits in war were always unsuccessful and due to lack of organized military techniques, lost many of the regions it had annexed earlier. By 1943 Italy’s role in the war had seriously deteriorated and Mussolini was headed to a big loss in the war. Mussolini developed the culture of dismissing the king commands and made him a ceremonial leader. In July 1943, Mussolini met his end onto the hold on power. He was arrested and deposed by elements within the ranks of his own Fascist National Party and the King appointed Field Marshal Pietro Badoglio as the New Prime Minister. He was arrested but saved by Hitler who still regarded him as strong ally in the war. He made many unsuccessful attempts to return to power by forming the Italian Socialist Republic in regions that were under German control, imposing himself as the leader. Mussolini was finally arrested by on April 28, 1945 with his mistress Clara Petacci, this time by Italian forces near Lake Como. He remained under Italian custody but realizing that he was going to be killed ordered that he be shot immediately. His long time friend, Walter Audisio eventually shot him in his chest on Mussolini’s request.   American Intervention in and Post World War II The overall American intervention in World War II was as a result of the surprise   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  attack of Pearl Harbor the Japanese army and the Franklin D Roosevelt fear of an imminent attack of North America by the Germans. The allied forces continuously bombed the allied strongholds and military bases including the German and Japanese cities of Dresden and Tokyo respectively (Jackson and Gleave, pp 87-103). This was based on the belief that killing and destroying civilian areas would discourage more civilians in supporting the war and also put more pressure on their governments to bring an end to the war. While this idea was geared towards ending the war faster, it in turn brought about the opposite. Civilian support for their leaders and the war increased and the war took longer than was previously thought causing many deaths and further destruction of property. Another intention of America on intervening in World War II was done in the name of freedom and democracy to the oppressed.   It is true that freedom and democracy form fundamentals of human rights but these interventions have left behind more sufferings manifested in the loss of lives and the destruction of property. This is because it is always difficult to make a distinction between rebels or armed groups and civilians. Italy was the first of the axis to experience the nature of America’s military intervention when President Roosevelt, Prime Minister Churchill, and the combined Joint Chiefs of Staff decided to make the first island of Sicily their first target. According to the U.S. Army Center for Military History (para. 2), the allied forces conquered Messina, the capital Sicily on 17 August 1943, a feat that propelled the Allied forces to push forward with their agenda of freeing Europe of Nazi and fascist idea. The support in terms of humanitarian and relief services from the United States did not begin after the war but in fact began long before the war. This demanded full control of organizations and relief services. During the war, relief services to the Axis –countries was not permitted as in the case of world war I. President Franklin D. Roosevelt saw this as providing further support to German and its allies .This condition continued for long even after the entry of the United States into the war in support of the allied forces. 1939 Neutrality Legislation demanded whole openness and full background details regarding relief agencies as some organizations could be sympathetic to the warring factions. In 1941, Joseph E Davis took over as the head of war relief agencies and brought in much needed reforms that included reducing the number of licensed relief organization from 300 to only 67 by the end of the war immediately after the war the relief control board formally known as the war relief agencies took over the advisory role on voluntary foreign aid. The relief services provided by the American government in World War I had many differences with that of world II, these included regulations regarding the provision of relief services to the prisoners of war and the additional statute on the Geneva Convention regarding the role of the Red Cross. All countries that took part in World War II with exception of Japan and the Soviet Union, were signatory to the 1929 Geneva Convention regarding the overall treatment of prisoners of war. Relief suppliers that included clothing toiletries and medicine were taken to prisoners in the prisons. Continuous inspections by the international Red Cross made sure that term of the Geneva Convention were fully complied with and all prisoners of war receive humane and fair treatment. Due to the different standards for treatments of war prisoners, the Geneva Convention strived to achieve an even state of treatment. Prisoners of war from countries that were not signatories to the Geneva Convention were badly treated by the Geneva Authorities. The overall performance of the Italians in World War II has had different opinions on whether it was a success or a failure.   The general idea that the  Ã‚   Italians military gave a poor show of there strength and surrendered early is not very true.   There are standing examples in very successful war exploits that Italian military achieved Italian military poor ratings from the world war11 seemed too have cropped up due to failed annexing of Greek Island and the unsuccessful take over of North Africa. Describing Italian soldiers as numerous were other factors that definitely contributed to such military mistakes.   Lack of modern weapon, poor leadership and division amongst the rank of Mussolini’s senior advisors that led to lack of will in the objective to accomplish his major war exploits. In 1939, Germany invaded Poland and took control of it; Italy at this point was not in a military position to launch and offensive. Hitler and Mussolini both wanted a redrawing of Europe’s map and in harboring this kind of vision; Mussolini ignored the state of Italy’s military strength and the inability of its war industrial complex to produce modern weapons that were capable of  Ã‚   sustaining a full scale war. Other neighboring nation such as Britain, Germany and France had put a lot in the development and   production of military weapons and had supplicated tanks, guns ammunition and trucks at there disposal(Evan, pp 743-756). In fact at the time of joining the Second World War, Italy’s position in terms of equipment was only at the same level with the First World War.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Its war artillery included the remnants from the First World War that were in ineffective and outdated. It lacked industrial capacity to produce new military equipment and those that were made were always out numbered by the demand. Beretta Pistols and automatic rifles were considered very efficient war machines but were always short in supply while the dreaded machine and sub standard qualities. The shipyard at their disposal was properly designed but lacked the strength in armor and lacked radar. This made it difficult for the Italy military to perform effective in comparison to other nations. Mussolini invented the art of propaganda and as such projected an image of effective air power but was in reality non existent. The whole military had only a few thousands of air crafts, most of which were bi-plane. The modern creations were of no match to those in the possession of the Allied forces. The command of Italy at the beginning of World War II was considered the poorest of all the nations that took active military exploits. Mussolini depended on loyalty as the main basis of selecting officers in various military ranks at the expense of experience. In fact Italy had the least number of experienced generals by the time of joining the war. The commanders and generals who had taken part in World War I were considered as sympathetic to the King and as such were taken to Africa and specifically in Somalia to do away with opposition in homeland. Other tactics involved the demotion of officers who were loyal to the King to lower ranks and replacing them with those that were considered loyal to the II duce. Mussolini asserted full control of the media and all organs of the state and those who criticized him were exiled in the wastelands of Italy such as Somalia. The remainder was composed of loyal military commanders and generals who were loyal to Mussolini and acted as his own stooges. This consisted of a class in the military that lacked the experience to handle a full scale war. Italy’s navy had very limited number of ships that were capable of defending its territorial waters (Gregory, pp 86-99). Poor leadership in the military and the lack of will to fully implement Mussolini’s objectives were main contributors to Italy’s unsuccessful conquests. Italy could not come out the war victorious. The Italian command sensing loss after the Axis evacuated their strongholds in Italy such as the Island of Sicily and the loss of Messina (Atkinson, pp 201-220). The high army command then opened secret negotiations with the Allied forces behind Mussolini’s back with the full support of the King who felt betrayed by Mussolini and undermined his position. He in fact blamed Mussolini on political problems that befell Italy. This almost marked the end of Italy’s active military involvement in the war. The unrelenting Germans disarmed Italian soldiers and rushed in to take up their positions upon realizing that they were about to surrender to the Allied forces.   Conclusion In conclusion, it is obvious that Italian military under the command of Mussolini was headed to a big failure in the war as they got involved into a war the least prepared for and lack of political will to fight Mussolini’s personal war. The whole military at that time lacked both the material and human resource and everything was undertaken to please Mussolini’s desire to gain a greater control of Europe. Questions as to why Mussolini’s would drive an ill equipped army into a full scale war remain baffling to date. The terming of Italian soldiers as cowards was utterly baseless as they fought so well under the experienced guidance of German soldiers led to defeat in Greece and the continuous successful offensive along the Russian borders. It was therefore a multiple number of factors that led to Italy’s early surrender but not cowardice. Mussolini’s inability to learn and change tactics was the major contributor to the progressive loss of war. Lastly it can be said that Italy bravely fought and lost.

Rape culture an epidemic Rape culture an epidemic This is important to me because this is the reality and daily fear for the majority of people, including women and children. This essay will benefit anybody who is afraid to tell their story, afraid to wear the â€Å"wrong† thing or to look at the wrong person, it is not your fault and this mindset that our societies have cultivated is not okay.   The Google definition of Rape culture is a society or environment whose prevailing social attitudes have the effect of normalizing or trivializing sexual assault and abuse. This is seen in our everyday lives, in our schools dress codes as young as elementary, todays fashion and in personal experiences for almost every women. This does not just affect our women but our men too. Not teaching what consent is, letting the mentality of â€Å"boys will be boys† not holding men accountable for their actions. Along with the double standards that stand as brick walls for both genders. As hard as we try and  maneuver our way through this horrible and problematic epidemic of rape culture, it is not only exhausting but also seems like a lost cause for most, that no matter how hard we try it doesnt seem we can rise above it. The lack of education on sexual harassment and violence is also not very helpful but most worry sum. When it comes to women especially or people who seem â€Å"weak† all basic respect and courtesy is thrown out the window. Dont be a distraction This phrase unfortunately has been heard a multitude of times to our young girls still in grade school and later in life. The debate on pros and cons of school dress codes is not new, but being said many times that dress codes specifically targets our young girls, this is not excusable.   In Brynne Thomas T.E.D talk â€Å"A life of rape culture† she talks about the first time she was Slut shamed in the first grade. The young girl pulled her shirt down to expose her shoulders and was pulled to the side by her teacher being told she shouldnt be exposing herself as so because of the wrong impression it was giving off and that this made her look slutty. Telling a young girl that having her shoulders out would give off the â€Å"wrong impression† is not only extremely damaging but also wildly inappropriate.   Insider.com has a whole article on dress codes targeting young girls, from wearing ripped jeans, shorts that are â€Å"too short†, having collar bones expos ed and even not wearing a bra. Which most of the punishments resulted in class suspension or student being sent home. One of the most troubling story was a high school principal in South Carolina telling students in regard to the legging policy that Ive told you this before, Im going to tell you this now, unless you are a size zero or two and you wear something like that, even though youre not fat, you look fat, ( Insider) not only shaming the girls for wearing comfortable full legged bottoms but also for their weight. Creating the mindset that we are just objects and that our comfort and more importantly our education is   to come secondary to the comfort of our male peers and instructors. In most cases female students are not the only ones concerned with this almost blatant objectification. San Benito High School in California Fifty students were sent home for wearing off the shoulder tops, which later resulted in a school wide protest where all genders came to school wearing th e â€Å" distracting† off the shoulder top. (Insider). The school later discussing with the students why they decided to protest and later announcing that the school would never blame female students for distracting others with their choice of clothing. The most common question in regards in how women dress is â€Å" Why would she wear that?† not â€Å" Why are you  sexualizing her for wearing that?† These are young girls that our society is telling to cover up, instead of telling our males to not get turned on by these young girls. But she was asking for it In the compilation of personal encounterments of survivors of rape culture â€Å"Not that bad† by Roxane Gay, one of the perspectives was of Aubrey Hirsch. Hirsch’s story about how she was berated by a known friend for taking her birth control publicly and being told that if she someone sees her than that would make her an easy target and letting her male peers think that there would be no repercussions for raping her (1) For those who do not know birth control is not only taken as a form of contraception but for a number of other reasons. Such as making menstrual cycles more manageable, controlling acne, reducing risk of ovarian cancer and cysts and maintaining weight. Birth control (pill form) must be taken everyday at the same time and preferably with food, just as any other form of long term medication. Taking birth control is not open invitation for being taken advantage of. In Hirschs case she did start taking her birth control to make her period more manageable. This attitude that â€Å"shes asking for it† may seem to be something that a â€Å"feminazi† would say blowing â€Å"innocent† phrases that are embedded in our psyche out of proportion such as â€Å"if he hits you it means he likes you†. Which may have a valid argument if not for North Carolina having a â€Å"loophole† making rape legal. In 1979   Northern Carolina supreme court passed a law stating that a woman can not be raped if she consented to sex even if later she revokes it. Meaning women can not legally revoke consent, the initial case was about a woman who said a date threatened to kill her if she didnt have sex with him.   The Supreme Court later found that: If the actual penetration is accomplished with the womans consent, the accused is not guilty of rape, although he may be guilty of another crime because of his subsequent actions.( NBC new)   Having your life on the line and feeling that the only way to come out of a situation a live is to give in to sex is not consent it is a ultimatum. This is the definition of rape culture normalizing sexual abuse.  Ã‚   According to the NSVRC ( National sexual violence research center) One in five women and one in 71 men will be raped at some point in their lives,and that One in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually abused before they turn 18 years old. Young children are targeted just as much as women, being that only 12% of child sexual abuse is ever reported to the authorities (NSVRC). Then prove it!! Some scholars argue whether or not rape culture is a real epidemic or question its existence. For lawyer and writer Luke Gittos, he writes in this book â€Å"Why Rape Culture is a Dangerous Myth† that â€Å" Many of the ideas which persist around rape today attempt to attach certainty to statistics which are inherently open to interpretation† (1). Stating that statistics are not based on facts. Suggesting that statistics to be â€Å"open to interpretation† is a contradiction to what statistics are, based on scientific evidence. Another point that Gittos makes is that instead of siding with the victim we should have the sympathy for the predator. Using innocent until proven guilty, understandably so. However what would be sufficient evidence if a rape test kit was unable to get done? The victim typically does not pull out a phone to record the horrendous act and if a rape test kit is used within the preferred five days how long does it actually take to get results back? Reported by multiple news articles such as the Washington post and San Francisco chronicle   rape test kits have a tremendous wait time to actually be tested, decades of test still on shelves waiting to be tested. â€Å"In New York City, an estimated 17,000 kits went untested. In Houston, there were 6,000. In Detroit, Los Angeles and Memphis, there were more than 11,000 each. Over the past two decades, the â€Å"rape kit backlog† ( Washington post).† If DNA of the assailant is found but they argue that it was consensual sex the Rape kit does not do much to provide evidence that it was assault, only relying on if any other physical harm was done such as bruising or bleeding. The NSVRC provides that only 2-10% of rape reports are false and that rape is the most under reported crime being that only 63% of sexual assaults are reported. This is our problem In another narrative by Hirsch in â€Å" Not that bad† she shares that being an English teacher she has her students write fictional literacy that often end up being about rape. The most unfortunate truth about this is that the students do not see that they have the protagonist actually becomes the antagonist when they rape the damsel in distress. One of the most unsettling stories she shared was one if her students wrote about a couple at a party, the women was so drunk that she could not walk or stand the he proceeded to have sex with her (he rape her) (6). Later coming to light that this was a retelling of how this boy and his girlfriend got together. When Aubrey talked to her student he was at awe when she was discussing that the character in the story was raping the women. The man did not know he was a rapist because no one called him out on it and it did not fall under the typical image of rape. In the TED talk by Jackson Katz â€Å"Violence against women its a mens is sue, he argues that this rape culture epidemic is a not a â€Å"womens† issue but a societal problem. Bring up the bystander mentality when men let other men passively objectify women or make sexist statements and pass it off as â€Å" locker room talk† or â€Å" its just a joke†. Letting it be known that the main predator is the man but we dont feel that men have a part of fixing this problem. He calls out how  damaging this is not only for our women but also for our young men, having these toxic male role models. Seeing these men that treat our mothers our sisters like objects, he then learns that this is what a â€Å"man† does and subconsciously learning this behavior. Katz encourages men to be microphones for our women that society tries so incredibly hard to silence. No-cost preventive services as a mainstay feature of the PPACA One major challenge that had for long prevented the health care system from achieving the goal of quality health care delivery is the pressure that the system has in handing the needs of too many people at a go. Most often, the pressure on the system results in situation where health providers are too few for the health users or health facilities are inadequate to cater for the health needs of the people (Cuellar, 2012). Through an intensive study therefore, there was an aspect of the PPACA that focused mainly on how to reduce the burden on health care system so that delivery could be improved. What was born out of this was the need for there to be enough preventive care services that ensures that health conditions are prevented rather than cured. It was for this reason that no-cost preventive services were made part of the mainstream PPACA. Currently, preventive care takes care of aspects of health care delivery such as immunizations, shots, screening, yearly check-ups and tests (Morrisey, 2007). These preventive services have been made free because the cost benefit effect of leaving them to be optional and at a cost to patients would be wo rse off. For example if people are made to pay to receive health services that could easily be prevented, they may feel reluctant to do so, only for their health conditions to get deteriorating to a level that will demand more cost from service providers to treat. As far as statistics is concerned, the no-cost preventive service can be said to have three major categorizations of beneficiaries. These are adult services, Women's Preventive Services ObamaCare, and Children's Preventive Services ObamaCare. The table below gives a detailed presentation of the health conditions that are covered under each of the no-cost preventive services. However, a significant outstanding difference comes out between the film and the poem. The poem talks of Patroclus as Achilles’ friend whereas the film displays him as Achilles’ cousin. Nevertheless the similarity that comes out in both works is notably the same: strong, close, and loving. Patroclus, seeing that Achilles had refused to join the action could not stand around any longer as his fellowmen get slaughtered by the Trojans. He decides to join the action and begs Achilles to let him fight alongside his fellowmen (Troy). Achilles agrees to let him join in the war and gives him his own armor to use in the battlefield (Homer, 20). The epic and the film display perfectly the changes that occur from shifting one medium to another (in this case text to film) and the effects of these changes. Whereas the movie appears visually appealing to the eye, it fails in creating the depth and originality found in the original piece of work. There are several changes in the dialogue, plot changes, temporal and spatial variations, casting, and inclusion and exclusion of particular themes.
